Martial arts training for every-BODY!

We are not a competition centered wrestling gym or MMA fight club.  Although you will learn every aspect of the fight game, we are about helping people grow, not pitting them against each other. Our goal is to offer the cutting edge in self defense together with combat athletics, fitness, and (most importantly) personal growth, to every type of human body that walks through our door. Not just 22 Year old athletes in the prime of life, but to professionals who have to work 40 hour weeks as well; to older people, looking to get into shape, have fun, and learn self defense; to people who want to invest in themselves by learning something really useful in a positive, ego-less atmosphere — all will find a positive experience here.

Our training method differs from many other “hard-core” gyms, as we utilize the concept of “progressive resistance and variable intensity training” (click here to read more about that).

We are typical folks, busy with work and families, and responsibilities outside of the gym. We are older and younger, athletic and non-athletic alike (and everything in-between). We are non-judgmental. We come to train because its fun, makes us happy, and enables us to discover more about ourselves (not to mention the self-defense applications).

Our mission quite simply, is to bring functional martial arts training using a unique approach that is friendly, safe, sane and relaxed.  We take an approach that we believe is more conducive to learning by eliminating fear from the training process.  You should always come to the gym in learning mode, not survival mode.

As of January 2010, Crucible Gym Martial Arts (CGMA) is now being ran out of my private training facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We are capable of hosting private, semi-private and small-group sessions. I will also be training in the Charlotte, North Carolina area as well with various groups.

We exist now as more of a private group with open enrollment held periodically. However if you are interested in training, don’t hesitate to inquire about joining at any time, as we just may have the space for you!

Our primary purpose has always been to blur the lines between functional, productive, athletic training (read, “sport”) and street-wise applications. If your interest lies in realistic, credible, street self-defense supported by an athletic structure, I’m sure you will appreciate our training model. You will not find a more technically advanced self-defense curriculum anywhere!
